Our Get To Know Us series takes a look at the journeys of some of the Enigen team in their time here, to give you a real insight into what it’s like to work with us. Recently, our Marketing Executive Aja Cheal sat down with CX Consultant Bhavna Somani, to discuss her time at Enigen so far.
Bhavna: “I began my career in IT studying Computer Science at B.P. Poddar Institute of Management and Technology in India. I chose to do this course as I had always been interested in the subject, even back in school and college.
After completing my bachelor’s, I worked for a major IT firm as a Developer where I trained in CPQ (Configure, Price, Quote). I then worked for another IT firm where I was able to carry on developing my skills in CPQ and other areas.
During my experience at these firms, I had the opportunity to speak with clients directly and find out their technology needs, which ultimately led me to wonder ‘What is the drive?’”
“When I moved to England, I was offered a position as a Consultant at Enigen. This was a great transition as it allowed me to continue working with clients, but also gain an understanding of the reasons behind their digital transformations.
Every day at work is different, one day I might be describing to a client how their business needs can be translated into applications, and another day I might be working on the configuration of a product. I am able to witness the client’s entire journey, from the initial conversation and what they are looking to achieve all the way to go-live, which is extremely satisfying and a huge part of why I enjoy my role as a Consultant.”
“Adapting to each client’s business needs can be challenging, but it ultimately allows me to expand my knowledge. Every company will have unique requirements, and depending on these requirements we will use different segments of an application. These segments are also customised in different ways according to the company’s needs, which means I am always learning and developing my skills.
I think as a Consultant, it’s important to be honest with the client and advise them on the best way to meet their end goal. Many businesses fear change as digital transformation can be overwhelming for them and their workforce. However, guiding them through the process and overcoming that initial stress allows clients to let go of existing systems and grow.”
“Something I like about working at Enigen is that I’m part of a team who are always willing to share knowledge and help each other grow. Managers, Directors, and colleagues from other departments are also easy to talk to and happy to help – even if they are busy. Being part of a company like this ensures that I am never left feeling lost or out of the loop.
I also appreciate that Enigen advocate for mental health, and normalise discussion around it. Before working here, I had never considered opening up about personal things in an office environment, let alone to my manager. Now I know I can reach out for help or just a chat if needed.
There is a real drive at Enigen to have a healthy work/life balance, something I hadn’t experienced previously. I am encouraged to take time for myself and reach out if things are getting too much. Setting boundaries for myself, especially working from home, has made a huge difference to my overall mindset.
Moving from India to England was a massive shift, but thanks to the People and Culture team bringing awareness to mental health and my colleagues being so supportive, I was able to feel like work was a safe space, making the transition much easier.”
